“Your privacy is important to us”

You have probably read this in many privacy policies.

We really mean it.

We offer a useful, easy to use mobile business card app. We ask you to pay a subscription fee, we do not make money with advertisements or with selling your data.

sQan me cannot be used by persons that are below the age of 16, so we do not collect personal data about people younger than 16.

You would probably like to know what personal data we collect, and what we use it for?

In short: we only use your personal data to enable you to use sQan me, to allow us to keep an administration and to gain general insight into the use of sQan me.

Information in your business card:

You can fill out your personal details in your business card: your first name, last name, company name, your role or function, email address, phone number, profile picture, your website or your company’s website, company logo, your social media accounts.

It’s up to you which details you fill out in your business card, but you must at least include your first and last name and email address.

Please keep in  mind not to include any sensitive data in your business card. We will not ask you for this kind of data. It concerns one of the following types of personal data: information about your health, about your sex life or sexual orientation, political opinions, race or ethnic origin, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade union membership, biometric data or genetic data. If, under applicable laws, these type of data may show from your profile picture or other personal data you fill out, we must assume that, by doing so, you agree to sharing it with the other sQan me users who receive your business card. We will, in any case, not use such personal data for any other purpose than enabling you to share your business card in sQan me.

Information to access your account:

To access your sQan me account, you can use your email address and a password. We hash your password so we do not have access to it.

You can also access your sQan me account with available social media logins. If you choose this login option, we will receive your email address from the social media provider to allow you to login with your social media account.  

We may send you email messages to keep you informed about sQan me. You have the option to opt-out of this when we collect your email address and at any time afterwards by clicking the unsubscribe button.

Information about your business cards:

In sQan me, depending on the type of subscription you have chosen, you can see information about your business card, such as: when it was scanned, how many times it was scanned and how many times it was shared.

Information about your location:

If you want to know where your business card was scanned, your location at that particular moment in time, is also registered. In the settings of your device, you can indicate whether you want to turn your location on, or off for sQan me.  If you have turned on your location, we will receive anonymous information about the location for analytics purposes (see below, under ‘Analytics information’).

Information about your preferences:

You can indicate in sQan me specific preferences such as whether you want to turn your camera on (or off).

Subscription and payment information:

You may choose from different sQan me subscriptions. You can access and manage your subscriptions through the settings in sQan me. We register your subscriptions to keep an administration.

We do not register your payment information, this is registered by the app store provider.

Information about your mobile device:

For analytics purposes (see below), we receive aggregated and anonymous information about your mobile device: the type of mobile device you use, the type and version of the operating system of your device, which screens are being viewed.

Analytics information:

We use aggregated user data to gain general insight into the use of sQan me. For example, this allows us to see how many users are using sQan me in a certain country, how many on a certain smartphone, how many users are looking at a certain screen. We only use this information for our own business purposes. We do not use this information in a way that re-identifies or affects you.

So, on what lawful basis do we process your personal data?

We use your personal data to be able to conclude and perform our agreement with you, which is the agreement for the use of sQan me, to fulfil our legal obligations for tax administration purposes and for our legitimate interests (analysing the data for our own business purposes).

And for certain specific manners of use of your personal data we ask your consent, which means turning certain types of data collection on and off in sQan me.

Editing information in your business card:

You can edit the information in your business card at any time. After you have edited the information, it will be synchronized with your business cards in the sQan me apps of other users.

Sharing your business card:

You can decide whether you want to allow your contacts to share your business card with others. You can decide this per business card. Because you may want your contacts to share one of your business cards, and not another. Or you may want to have one business card only for your contacts with more information in it, and another for others, with less information in it.

You can always decide to stop allowing your contacts to share a business card. From that moment on, your contacts won’t be able to share it any longer using the sQan me QR code.

Deleting a specific business care:

You can delete a specific business card from sQan me at any time. When you delete the business card, this business card will be deleted both from your own app as well as from the apps of other sQan me users. It will also be deleted from the servers of our service provider.

Deleting your account:

You can delete your account at any time. You can find the delete button in your settings. When you delete your account, all your business cards will also be deleted, as well as the business cards of your contacts. Your business card will be deleted from your own app as well as from the apps of the other sQan me users that have your business card. It will also be deleted from the servers of our service provider.

Getting an archive of your personal data:

If you would like to receive an archive of your personal data, please send us an email and we will arrange for you to get it. We are working on a functionality which allows you to download an archive from your app. So, once this functionality is installed, you can download the archive directly yourself.

Separate requests:

You also have the right to have your personal data restricted.

You may also ask us to do any of the above by separate request.

This also goes for requests with regard to personal data that are not accessible to you in sQan me (for example your subscription payment information).

You may ask us to access and erase the personal data, rectify incorrect personal data, object to processing of your personal data and to ask for an archive of your data processed electronically on the basis of consent or for the performance of the agreement we have with you. You may also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

You may also want to know with whom we share your personal data?

That’s easy: we share your personal data with the service provider that hosts the sQan me app. Your personal data are stored in the European Economic Area.

You may choose to share the personal data in your business card with your contacts and, if you so choose, it may in turn be shared by your contacts with others.

Can we update this Privacy Policy?

Well, if there are important changes in the processing of your personal data, we will have to update this Privacy Policy to reflect those changes. We will notify you of such changes by email or through a notification in sQan me. Non-important changes would be an update of our contact details.
